Devins early childhood experience helped inspire him to become a tour guide. When his family immigrated to Toronto in the late 60's they were escaping Apartheid in South Africa, Upon arrival they were smitten by their unfettered access to beautiful places like Edwards gardens, the Royal Ontario Museum, City Hall, and the Toronto Harbourfront. His Father who is a teacher, often took the family out while preparing for his own field trips. And at an early age, they all began to learn about local flora and fauna, the geology, and the natural history. Devin obtains a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. His PhD has helped make him knowledgeable with issues of mobility and accessibility, particularly as they pertain to an aging population.
